After you first appointment.

What happens next?

Before we finish, we’ll talk about what I’m seeing and what I recommend based on your evaluation.

Your next steps may include medication, therapy, additional testing, coordination with another healthcare provider, lifestyle changes, or simply taking more time to gather information before making a decision.

You’ll leave knowing what the plan is, why we chose it, and what happens next.

Insurance & payment

Insurance coverage varies by plan. Before your appointment, please make sure your current insurance information is entered correctly in the patient portal.

A valid payment method is required to remain on file for applicable copays, deductibles, coinsurance, self-pay fees, or other patient responsibility.

Questions about coverage? Verify your behavioral health benefits directly with your insurance plan before your appointment.

Appointments & cancellations

Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide notice according to the practice cancellation policy.

Late cancellations and missed appointments may result in a fee when permitted by your agreement and applicable requirements.

Please review the Practice Policies before your first appointment for complete information about scheduling, cancellations, late arrivals, and fees.

Telehealth appointments

Telehealth appointments are available to patients located in Arizona at the time of the visit.

For your appointment, choose a private location where you can speak comfortably and safely. You’ll need a reliable internet connection and a device with a working camera and microphone.

At the beginning of the visit, your location may be confirmed as part of routine telehealth safety procedures

Please do not attend a telehealth appointment while driving.

Medication & prescription policies.

Medication recommendations are based on your individual evaluation, medical history, symptoms, safety considerations, and clinical needs.

An appointment does not guarantee that a specific medication will be prescribed. Controlled medications require appropriate evaluation and ongoing monitoring when clinically indicated.

Prescriptions are not routinely replaced early because they were lost, stolen, damaged, or used differently than prescribed.

Please review the Practice Policies for complete information regarding medications, refills, controlled substances, and prescription requests.

Records & coordination of care

You decide who we may communicate with, except when disclosure is required or permitted by law.

When you need urgent help

Heffron Health & Wellness and/or Luna Eclipsed Psychiatry provides outpatient psychiatric care and is not an emergency or crisis-response service.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, having thoughts of harming yourself or someone else, or believe you cannot remain safe, please seek immediate help rather than waiting for a scheduled appointment or portal response.

Call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. If there is immediate danger or a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

Ready to get started?

You don’t need to have everything figured out before making an appointment.

Start where you are. We’ll talk through what’s happening, answer your questions, and determine the next steps together.

SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your first psychiatric appointment shouldn’t feel like an interrogation.

It’s a conversation designed to understand what you’re experiencing, how it’s affecting your life, and what may be contributing to it.

You don’t need to know your diagnosis. You don’t need to organize your entire life story before you arrive. And you definitely don’t need to know which medication you think you need.

Your job is to show up and tell me what’s been going on. My job is to listen, ask the right questions, and help make sense of the bigger picture.

What are we going to talk about?

A psychiatric evaluation looks at more than a list of symptoms. We’ll talk about what you’re experiencing now, when it started, and how it affects your everyday life.

We may discuss your mood, anxiety, attention, sleep, energy, appetite, relationships, work or school, medical history, previous treatment, medications, substance use, major life experiences, and family history when relevant.

Some questions may seem unrelated at first. That’s because symptoms can overlap, and understanding the context helps distinguish between conditions that can look very similar.

The goal isn’t to fit you into a diagnosis. It’s to understand what’s actually happening.
